4)Recycling 'important in upgrade project'

ISG and IG Group are upgrading their Cannon Bridge House premises in central London. The project is likely to total £3.3 million and will involve work on the roof and the basement of the construction. One of the main aims of the refit project is to recycle or reuse 90 per cent of the materials. The company has already begun to achieve this by sending much of the old interior to "good use" by sending numerous solid timber doors as donations to the London-based charity St Mungos.A new service from Lafarge Cement merchants may be of benefit to companies like ISG which are carrying out environmentally-aware building projects.Lafarge has recently announced that companies with out-of-date cement will be able to phone the company to have it collected.Kieron Hall, packed marketing manager at Lafarge Cement UK, explained the benefits of the scheme: "For our merchant customers, this saves money on skip hire and landfill charges and removes the problem of having to dispose of out-of-date cement."For the environment, it reduces the amount of construction waste going to landfill and supports local green initiatives in the community around our Works."
